RYOBI launches the new generation of 18V lithium battery tools GEN2 series
Recently, Ryobi launched their new generation of 18V One+ HP brushless cordless power tools, including a drill, hammer drill, impact driver, circular saw, and reciprocating saw. Ryobi says that these 5 new Gen 2 additions are the most powerful tools they offer. All new tools are said to provide optimal performance when powered by Ryobi's higher-quality 18V 4Ah batteries. The 18V One+ HP series is not Ryobi's first attempt at cordless power tools with brushless motors. Compared to earlier tools, the HP series tools have a more compact form factor. At the same time, Ryobi's 18V HP cordless power tools provide plenty of power, making some sacrifices for the sake of reducing size and weight.
Ryobi seems to have changed direction and is once again focusing on squeezing as much power and performance as possible into the new 18V HP Gen 2 models. Ryobi 18V Gen 2 Brushless Drill and Hammer Drill The new brushless drills offer up to 850 in-lbs of maximum torque and feature a 2-speed gearbox with 0-700 and 0-2150 RPM speed settings. Ryobi claims these models offer 45% more speed and 65% more torque compared to one of their more basic cordless drills (PCL206 Drill, PCL220 Hammer Drill). Features include a 1/2-inch metal chuck, 24-position clutch, base-mounted LED work light. The kit comes with a charger and a 4Ah high-performance battery.
Ryobi Gen 2 Brushless Impact Driver The new Gen 2 18V HP Brushless Impact Driver also boasts impressive specs – up to 2300 in-lbs of maximum torque and 3400 RPM of maximum speed. It also features 4 operating modes, 3 speed settings, and an assist mode. Judging from the specs alone, this looks like it could be one of the highest performing cordless impact drivers on the market. Ryobi 18V Gen 2 Brushless Circular Saw The new Ryobi 18V HP Gen 2 Brushless Circular Saw features a 7-1/4 inch blade size.
Ryobi claims this is their most powerful circular saw ever. They say it cuts 500 times faster than their PCL3 circular saw ", which has an entry-level price and a smaller blade size. Features include speeds up to 5000 RPM, 0-56° bevel shoe adjustment, die-cast metal upper guard, maximum cutting depth up to 2-9/16 inches at 0°, and a rafter hook. Ryobi says it uses an 18V 4Ah high-performance EDGE (table) battery for optimal performance. Ryobi 18V Gen 2 Brushless Reciprocating Saw The new Gen 2 reciprocating saw has a 1-1/4-inch stroke length and a maximum speed of 3200 SPM.
They say it cuts 2 times faster than their PCL515 reciprocating saw, which is an entry-level priced model with a brushed motor. Specs-wise, there's not much difference compared to Ryobi's other 18V HP brushless reciprocating saw, the PBLRS01B, which also has 1-1/4 inch stroke length and a maximum speed of 3200 SPM.
